Reducing the harm
Our Mission
Mission Mould is a national campaign working to improve how damp and mould are understood, addressed and prevented.
We focus on increasing awareness, strengthening accountability, and improving access to the expertise needed to resolve mould problems effectively.
ONE MISSION. TWO HORIZONS. Mission Mould is built around a clear long-term aim, supported by a defined near-term focus.
Over the next five years, we aim to improve how mould cases are recognised, investigated and resolved across the housing system.
This means:
- clearer accountability across tenants, landlords and professionals
- better identification and diagnosis of underlying causes
- more consistent and timely resolution of mould issues
Over the longer term, success means a measurable reduction in the health harm associated with damp and mould exposure.
This includes improved outcomes for:
- respiratory health
- vulnerable groups, including children and older people
- overall wellbeing linked to safer, healthier homes
HOW WE MAKE CHANGE HAPPEN
Mission Mould works to improve outcomes by bringing together three key elements:
Clear Information
Helping people better understand mould, its causes, and the pathways to resolving the issue they need to deal with.
Trusted Local Expertise
Connecting people with professionals who can properly diagnose and address mould problems.
National Awareness + Campaigning
Raising awareness of mould as a housing and public health issue, and supporting improvements in how it is addressed.
Why our work matters
The link between housing + health
Damp and mould are often treated as isolated or minor issues. In reality, they reflect wider challenges in housing conditions, building performance and system accountability.
When mould problems are not properly understood or resolved, they can persist for long periods — increasing risk to health and wellbeing.
Mission Mould exists to help change that.
